Small business insurance, in plain English

Five coverages handle 95% of small-business risk. Here's what each one does — and when it's worth the premium.

General Liability (GL)

Pays for bodily injury or property damage you cause to a third party. Almost every venue, landlord, or commercial client requires a $1M / $2M GL policy.

Business Owners Policy (BOP)

Bundles GL + commercial property (your inventory, equipment, leased space). Usually cheaper than buying them separately.

Professional Liability (E&O)

Covers you when a client claims your advice or service caused them financial loss. Essential for consultants, designers, accountants, and contracted creatives.

Inland Marine (Equipment Coverage)

Covers tools, gear, and equipment you take to job sites. GL doesn't cover your own stuff — this does.

Cyber Liability

Pays for breach response, customer notification, and ransomware. Worth it for anyone who stores customer data, even just names + emails.
